There's been quite a bit of buzz recently suggesting that Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) can help people lose weight and improve their health. However, the long term effects and risks af ADF remain unclear. Alternate Day Fasting is when people adopt a diet in which they are allowed to eat as much as they want on one day, while fasting on the next. some people have suggested this diet as an alternative to more traditional exercise and daily calorie reduction. And, when compared directly to dietary supplements, such as diet pills, reviews were mixed.
Studies show that while alternate day fasting is effective in protecting against obesity and type two diabetes, it does not necessarily always result in weight loss or fat reduction. Published weight loss articles also indicate that participants experienced and stronger appetite on their non-fasting days, and ended up consuming more calories than they usually do, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the diet. The bottom line is the results are mixed, and the long term effects are still unknown.
