Is Bowling Healthy?

Is Bowling Healthy?

Recently I was speaking to my doctor about how I often have a difficult time motivating myself to workout, jog, swim, or do other physical activities that are necessary in to stay healthy. My doctor recommended that I find a physical activity that can be entertaining at the same time. Like bowling, for instance. That really go me thinking, and caused me to ask the question, "Is bowling really healthy?". I guess swinging a 12-16 lb bowling ball around can burn some calories after several frames.

I really hadn't considered that fact that bowling could be healthy though. Obviously, for it to work, you'll have to stay far away from the food they serve at your local bowling alley, because that certainly isn't healthy. But the actual participation in bowling itself can be considered a physical activity, and can be healthy for you if you participate on a regular basis. Not only swinging the ball, but the muscle control you have to excerpt while taking the necessary steps and the follow through motion required to control the ball.
