In the field of personal growth, the main model for change is the medical model. In order for medical people to help, someone has to be "sick". I believe that all elements of personal growth have a spiritual quality. I know that God gave us medicine. But, sometimes it seems, the Healer is ignored.
God is the source of all health and He is always available to anyone who seeks Him. Oftentimes, a person may feel undeserving of God's help. I believe that nothing brings Him more joy than when one of us reaches out for help.
Many times, recovery is based on the "well" people called counselors and "sick" people who are called patients.. This system has led to many unhealed healers. I wish the criteria for helping people was based on one's own journey of recovery.
If a counselor is able to articulate their journey, then we may have a healer. I say maybe because of the "talk the talk" types. One way to tell the difference between someone who knows what to say and someone who knows how to relate is that the relater reveals less than attractive self-discovery experiences.
"We are each of us angels with one wing And we can fly only by embracing each other." Luciano de Crescenzo
The field of mental health has both persons who have "education" about healing and persons who have experience about healing. The best healers I've met have both--education and experience. I have a dear friend who taught me that a person with an experience is never at the mercy of a person with an argument.
